Cold Laser Therapy a Non-Invasive Treatment
Cold laser therapy provides pain relief or pain reduction. Specific wavelengths of light interact with tissue. The lasers are used in two distinct ways:
- Targeting acupuncture trigger points – similar to acupuncture but without needles
- Coverage of bone or tissue to reduce pain and stimulate healing.
The laser is placed over an injured area with a dwell time of approximately 30 seconds to several minutes. The light has the ability to penetrate 2 to 5 centimeters (3/4″ to 2″) below the skin.
Cold laser therapy reduces pain from inflammation, and accelerates healing without medicine. The method does not require any surgical incisions. A series of treatments, normally 5 or more, before the full benefit is felt.
At Innate Chiropractic, we use the Lumix 3 Ultra lasers. This is a superpulsed laser that provides faster results with significantly shorter treatment times.
The biological effects of Lumix 3 Ultra Laser Therapy have been shown to significantly accelerate and enhance the body’s natural defense and repair abilities when injured. By reducing the duration of inflammation as well as enhancing specific repair and healing process, Cold Laser Therapy has been proven to provide pain relief, reduce damage due to the injury and loss of function. Laser Therapy enables the body to have a more rapid repair and stronger tissues once healed.
It is widely used for treating:
- acute and chronic pain
- ligament sprains
- muscle strains
- back pain
- carpal tunnel syndrome
